Deep-Voiced Men Have More Kids

From: Livescience, Mon Sep 24

If you want to have lots of kids, look for a Barry White oOo . . .Oh, yeah. . .Baby. . . oOo instead of a Justin Timberlake. Whaaaaaatt?! oOo Men with a deep voices have more offspring, a new study suggests.

Previous studies conducted by David Feinberg of McMaster University in Canada have shown that women are more attracted to men with deeper voices, judging them to be older, healthier and more masculine than their higher-pitched rivals.

Men, on the other hand, go for women with higher pitched voices because they find them more attractive, subordinate, feminine, healthier and younger-sounding. oOo and not the least bit Bimbo-ish, either. . . oOo

"We find in this new study that voice pitch is not related to offspring mortality rates," Feinberg said. [ But, did they test the survival rates of the grownups and neighbors, who had to endure the pitiful groanings of the low-pitched gutteral grunters? ] oOo

To look for any relationship between voice pitch and birth rates, the researchers studied the Hadza tribe of Tanzania, one of the last true hunter-gatherer cultures. Because the Hadza have no modern birth control, the researchers were able to compare birth rates without any outside influencing factors. oOo So their lifestyle is really a lot like ours, right? This should yield some accurate data. oOo

They found that Hadza men with deeper voices had more children than those with higher voices. ? How many, bubba? oOo

Well, I call this real Schnizz-whacky.*

This relationship could give insight into the evolution of the human voices. . . [ Duh-Oh? - Whaaaaaattt?! Wrong! Counter evidence: Even today, I still run into people with Monkey-breath, who sound like one, too! ]

The study continues, "If our ancestors went through a similar process," Feinberg said, [ Remember, we are probably "related" to those in the Hadza tribe of Tanzania - since they had no modern birth control, they had more children than we do, and could not prevent us from being born down their lineage - thus, they are our "ancestors". ] oOo oOo
"this could be one reason why men's and women's voices sound different."

oOo So that's the diff between M and F! . . .
Don't you just love a hairy-sounding woman's voice. . . ?
Oh yeah. . . Baby. . . oOo oOo

* Schnizz-whacky -- My new "Word-of-the Day". Some other time I'll get around to a definition for it. . .

Birds of a Plastic Feather

Pink Flamingo Faces extinction - American Yard Icon to be on Most Wanted Endangered Species list

Leominster, MA

"What started out as a fun fad turned into the ultimate in tacky, and evolved into kitsch art on your front lawn."

"You really can't help but smile when you look at them, and giggle, because they're funny." :) oOo :-P oOo

The birds hit the market in the late 1950s when the color pink was in vogue, and America's exploding population of suburbanites sought to add flair to their lawns.
As I recall, in our neighborhood the yard ornament of choice was grass smothered in yellow dandelions.

oOo - Little known Random Bird Wisdom - oOo

The plastic birds arrive at your local WalMart and/or flea-ridden-market [ aren't they one in the same?! ] oOo in boxed sets of two — one standing nearly 3 feet high with its head held proudly erect, the other bending over as if munching on grass.

The Hitchcock classic movie "The Birds" came out about the same time, and no plastic flamingos were harmed in the making of this movie.

The pink flamingo enjoyed a resurgence in the 1980's with the TV police show "Miami Vice," whose opening credits featured real birds dive-bombing the beach.

"Bye-Bye Birdie" was a zany movie of the 60's starring "whats-her-name?" (not Doris Day...) oOo

Birds still pose some of the worst flying hazards to man-made Aeroplanes, since they frequently intersect each other in the "friendly skies". oOo

Bird crumbs are often used on websites to show you where your trail of pages has led-to/ come-from.

"It's For the Birds" was a popular expression meaning "not much better (or worse) than bird-poop."

oOo A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush; oOo or, a bird in the bush is worth two in the hand; oOo or, maybe a two-handed bird is worth it's weight in lost bird-smears on your car's windshield and roof. oOo

Birdies are used to play badminton, big family fun yard game of the 60's, [ also known as a Shuttlecock - another bird-term perhaps? oOo ] only rivalled by that other ever-popular yard game "the huge- red- Darts- thrown-into-hoops-or-your-head- game"!

Of course a Birdie in golf is not a hole-in-one.

Birds of a feather flock together, as in: social networking... oOo

Bird-brains are very tiny - as in: "you bird-brain!" but still take up a lot of psychic air-space, both internal cranium and external to surrounding humans - as in: social networking... oOo oOo

Also since the 60's: someone , somewhere, is giving the bird to someone else, somewhere. oOo oOo

One of the most outlandishly foisted flamingo pranks was to swipe the ornaments from front yards, take them on the road, and send photos to their owners showing the kidnapped birds in front of sights like Paris' Eiffel Tower. oOo Talk about bird-poop and rubbing your noses in it. "Wish you were here...!" oOo

Whatever the Featherstone flamingo's fate, Leominster's mayor plans to hold a party celebrating the creation's 50th birthday next June on the Town Common, which he hopes to fill with flamingos. The city has purchased the domain at http://www.flamingocity.net in hopes of capitalizing on its legacy.

Just Weird Dept.

New Zealand's source for oddstuff - strange, weird & bizarre on Stuff.co.nz: Supermarket launches musical sandwich

While it's not certain how your true love would react to being given a tuneful tuna lunch on February 14, oOo Church said the idea could also be used in conjunction with record companies to launch songs by new artists clamouring for the kabobs, er, kudos. oOo

oOo Hmm, what's a good accompaniment for their song's sounds, I wonder. . . SlipNott with "Rotting PorkMeat in Eyeball Phlemb"? Brittany's "Broccoli Spears with Holland Tunnel in-a-Daze" sausage? Maybe "Twisted Botulism Baloney" for Marilyn Manson? oOo

Flavour/song combinations under consideration include Prawn To Be Wild, Let It Brie and that old Julio Iglesias favourite, Fillings, Tesco said. oOo oOo

I'm fillng-up rather sick at the thought here. . . Better go drink some juice. oOo oOo

Creativity determines sexual success

Creativity determines sexual success | Science Blog: "The research, by the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and the Open
University in the UK, found that professional artists and poets have
around twice as many sexual partners as those who do not indulge in
these creative activities."

The authors also pelved into the personalities of artists and poets and found they shared certain traits with mentally ill patients. oOo oOo

--- DOH --- These traits were linked with an increased sexual activity and are thought to have evolved because they contribute to the survival of the human species. OH SURE---

He said: “Creative people are often considered to be very attractive and get lots of attention as a result. ---THEY GET EASY OPPS AND THIS FEEDS THEIR EGO.

* * *As a professional artist I continually RESENT these common attempts to explain-away Misfit Misbehavior. AS IF so-called talent and alternate/deviant lifestyles [ like "being gay" or "effeminent" or into drugs/bondage/SM/whatEVER... ] of certain "artists" just "comes with the territory" and you "have to share these traits to be a REAL artist/ creative person". TOTAL BS!! oOo

Dr Nettle added that the results suggested an "evolutionary reason" [sic] for why certain personality traits that serious artists and poets were found to share with schizophrenic patients perpetuated in society.

---SURE, EVERYTHING THAT'S PERPETUATED *MUST* BE GOOD AND USEFUL --- HOW ABOUT THAT this is Symptomatic of Fundamental Flaws THAT CANNOT BE RID OF BY *SELECTIVE PROGRESS* oOo oOo

This "research" shows there are positive reasons, such as their role in mate attraction and species survival, for why these characteristics are still around.”

RIGHT---SINCE WE "WANT" THESE TRAITS TO SURVIVE IN THE SPECIES!
THERE ARE REASONS for their sexual excess and disturbed psyches: they remain because they are frustrated, isolated, lonely, addicted, disturbed, internally warped, in turmoil and life-challenged individuals-- seeking relief and release from their bondage to sin.

They have chosen the wrong path to go-- only by grace can they/we be saved from this body of death.

Take-out Thief: Gets Plain Dough to Go

Calif. pizza parlor burglar gets away with dough: the night crew interrupted his caper, "forcing the would-be baker to forgo his predawn snack and flee hastily with only the restaurant's safe."
oOo Now that's what I call a bite out of crime! That's one delivery heavy on the metal but light on the toppings.

Maybe his plan oOo was to make a "stuffed crust" with the wad of cash-- clever disguise, then the papers would have really eaten this one up! oOo oOo

Whoops: I Missed It Dept. -- May 18 was best day

Science Blog "Whoops: May 18 was best day to change your life"

A University tutor has produced a formula which suggests May 18 is the optimum date for life-changing resolutions.

Dr Cliff Arnall, a part-time tutor in the Centre for Lifelong Learning, was challenged to find the ideal day for positive thinking. oOo oOo

He devised the formula M x O Bh (H R) x S to discover that New Year resolutions oOo stand a better chance of success if they are made on May 18. oOo [ That's pretty LATE for a "new year" isn't it?? ]

Under the formula M stands for motivation and O for opportunity while Bh is bank holiday proximity.

The H in the second half equals increasing hours of daylight, while R equals reflection time and S, simply success. oOo oOo

[ Here's a better Formula: N x O^2 + W = If it's True, then Do It. / where N= normal daily life; O= Oxygen + Opportunity; W= willingness to do Good. That's ALL the Excuse you need, Folks!

Dr Arnall, a "specialist in happiness, motivation and confidence", oOo hit headlines around the world [ ! his 15 min. of stoOopidity ! ] in January with a formula for the most depressing day of the year — January 24." oOo WRONG-- the most depressing day was when I read this article. . . BUT that's passed now, WHoopie! oOo oOo
